From I-40, take I-26 east.

From I-26, take exit 40 (Airport Exit, old exit 9) west toward Asheville Airport. Turn right on Old Fanning Bridge Road, the first street past the airport. Go 2.3 miles, past the Unity Center and MTI and turn left on Lance Road.                                

From 191 and 280, turn north on 191 and drive 1 mile. Turn right just past the Mills River Storage Center onto Old Fanning Bridge Road. Drive .5 mile and turn right on to Lance Road.

From Lance Road, drive .3 mi and turn left on Barkwells Lane just before the end of the paving.

MapQuest and GPS may take you to the wrong Lance Road or the long way around, so please take this page with you when you set out for Barkwells!
